Football Supporters Europe (FSE) would like to hear from female supporters of national teams who are interested in sharing their stories of being a football fan to feature in the Fan.Tastic Finals project. The project is an extension of the Fan.Tastic Females exhibition, which will tour the host cities of UEFA EURO 2024.
The project Fan.Tastic Females – Football Her.Story told the stories of ‘fan.tastic’ women – about their love and passion for the game, their journey into the stands, their greatest, most impressive, funniest stories of fandom, but also the more challenging experiences.
The unique exhibition based on video portraits, put together by fans, for fans, illustrated the diversity and realities of female fan culture in European football, mainly in the club context, from the perspective of the protagonists themselves.
The exhibition travelled through countless cities across Europe and actively contributed to initiating discussions about sexism in football through a positive debate on gender equality and the participation of women in supporter culture.
The next natural step is to take the discussion into the context of national team fandom, with a perfect opportunity to continue the exhibition being this summer’s UEFA EURO 2024, before bringing the tour to a close.
FSE is seeking female supporters of national teams from countries across Europe to explore regional differences and encapsulate the widest possible representation. Their team does not need to have qualified for them to take part. We know that fan culture is diverse, and representation means thinking with intersectionality in mind. We encourage people of all backgrounds, regardless of their identities, to take the stage to share their stories.
We aim to complement the existing Fan.Tastic Females stories with new stories from national team supporters ahead of UEFA EURO 2024 under the new name Fan.Tastic Finals.
Their stories, alongside the original Fan.Tastic Females stories, will then tour the host cities of UEFA EURO 2024 accompanied by an engaging programme of panel discussions and events. Following the conclusion of the physical exhibition after the tournament, the video portraits will be presented online at fan-tastic-females.org.
